Understanding business finance did wonders at checkout

From a loss of $50,000 in 2002 to a record gain of almost $130,000 in the fiscal year 2003 for Truck AB in Borlänge. Success, the concept is based on CEO Anders Svensson's vision, his faith in his employees and a commitment to personalized education in finance and "human knowledge".

Anders Svensson, LastbilsteknikThere is a difference between managers and leaders. Truck AB knows a leader, Anders Svensson, 38 year-old president and owner  Poor managers, he has seen enough of them to last the rest of his life.  His 15 employees probably can not imagine a better leader than Anders. Thanks to a unique education in finance, that fits into all aspects of the company, they are now fully functioning in a financially sound company. The latest test of Anders Svensson's leadership and the employees' collective responsibility, was that all employees participated in the company's profit during the fiscal year 2003.

"Money is tangible, something we all enjoy," says Anders Svensson, "and I promised that everyone would get some of the profits, if they endorsed my ideas about finance, human knowledge, and the importance of taking responsibility," he continues. "The only reason I started Truck Technology in 1997 was that I wanted to create a workshop where I myself could see myself working."

Truck AB in Borlänge is one of the few garages in the country that specializes in heavy vehicles. "Here it much noisier, dirtier, and tougher than the smaller car garages, as many of us are accustomed." The guys who work with maintaining the country's commercial vehicles are not normally good models for white shirts, track lists, or understanding the finances and balance sheets. Although, they have been recruited by Anders because his stomach compass said they were the right guys for the job.

Unique CEO

"I work only with my gut feeling, "says Anders, " I can bring in a completely unskilled guy at the shop and teach him from scratch.  If they have talent, interest and legal responsibility. The job, they can always learn, however, it is serious if they lack social skills."

Anders Svensson is a brave man. He does not fear many things, is tattooed over most of his body, is "president" of the MC-Club Ratz with a skull motif on his back. His "uniform" is light years away from a traditional president's dark suit.

However, Anders Svensson is a very clever and smart business entrepreneur and CEO. He is also a wise man in that many years ago he had already realized the need to feel good and think about both his job and his boss to do maintain good job performance. Moreover, he knew that good work performance usually generated good profitability, which was only fair and proper.

Finance and "human knowledge"?

In the autumn of 2000, John Smith went on a course organized by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise. On site, was Peter Söderholm from Bonanza an education company, whose motto is "Business Finance, so that everyone understands." Images, colors and graphs are playing into the business's financial expertise of the participants, who do not have to be business experts before the course. - Financial thinking is transformed from the difficult, complicated and incomprehensible to something that touches and affects everyone in the company, "says Peter Soderholm.
